Politically restricted posts
Within Local Government certain positions are "politically restricted" which means that you are not able to stand for election, hold office in a political party, canvass at any election or poll, or encourage support for a political party. Presently, posts of grade 9 or above, or posts where you regularly give advice to the Council or speak on its behalf, are deemed to be "politically restricted". If you are unsure as to whether you are covered by this legislation you should contact Human Resources using the contact details on the right.
