I did my work experience at the Vale of the White horse District Council. Before I got there I didn’t really know that much about what the Vale does but after two weeks I feel like an expert.

Before I meet the people who worked at the Vale I thought they would be dull people who would drown on about how their political party is the best and why you should vote for them and dodge questions I asked them. I was very much wrong. All the people were are very friendly and happy to help me and answered all the questions with detail but they did say I should vote for their party - that was both parties the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives.
At my two weeks at the Vale I did a wide variety of things from watching a debate in the House of Commons to teaching primary school students to play cricket. My favourite parts of my two weeks were going to the Houses of Parliament and a meeting with Jerry Patterson who is the Deputy Leader. I learnt lots from both and were both very interesting.
So for any one who is interested in local government I would recommend doing work experience at the Vale of the White Horse District Council.
