Performance

The Council seeks to continually improve the services it provides. In order to do this we set aims and objectives by which our performance is monitored.

Vale Community Strategy
The Community Strategy sets out what is important to protect and improve in the Vale to enhance quality of life and maintain sustainable communities. The Vale Partnership has begun a review of the existing strategy which will be completed during 2008.

Corporate Plan 2005-08
In 2005 the Council published the first of a new style of Corporate Plan for the Council. The plan sets out:

• How we will contribute to the Vale Community Strategy
• Our Corporate aims and priorities
• The specific actions we have so far planned to achieve these aims and priorities

This plan will be updated during 2008.

Best Value Performance Plan 2008/09
This is an annual plan which was published in June 2008. It includes the results for a range of national Best Value Performance Indicators for 2007-2008. The Performance Plan will be replaced by a new style Corporate Plan in 2008-2009.

Comprehensive Performance Assessment
Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) is a national assessment regime for all councils which is carried out by the Audit Commission.

Corporate Governance Reporting
In year monitoring of progress is carried out through the Council’s Corporate Governance Reporting. The report is considered quarterly by the Senior Management Team, Executive and Scrutiny Committee.

Value for money
This offers a summary of key corporate data for the Council 2007/08 and a comparison of cost and performance with a number of other authorities has been prepared.
