The Gambling Act 2005 gave local authorities new responsibilities relating to gambling. This included passing the responsibilities for licensing premises involved with gambling from the exisiting magistrates court system to district councils and the Gambling Commission.
The Vale carries out these new functions with a view to promoting three objectives:
Applications for a premises licences under the Gambling Act now need to be submitted to the licensing authority, which in the Vale is the Council's Licensing Unit. The appropriate fee must also be submitted. See the table below for details of the Vale's fees for applications, which have been set subject to limits set by the Gambling Act.
Application forms and further guidance can be found on the Department of Culture, Media and Sports website.
