The non-domestic rates, or business rates, are collected by local councils and then pooled by central Government and redistributed back to local councils according to the number of people living in the area. This money, together with revenue from Council Tax collection, the Revenue Support Grant provided by the Government and certain other funds, is used to pay for the services provided by your council and other local authorities in your area.
The Council's revenues and benefits service, which includes business rates, is provided by the Council's contractors Capita Local Government Services. If you would like further information, please contact the Business Rates Section using the contact details on the right.
