Grants and discounts for insulation

If you are in receipt of a benefit or are over the age of 70

If you are in receipt of certain benefits or you are over the age of 70 you may be entitled to free loft and cavity wall insulation. There are two ways to go about claiming free loft and cavity wall insulation.

1) Insulation discount schemes

The Council supports two insulation discount schemes that through funding supplied by the energy utility companies are able to offer free loft insulation to those in receipt of certain benefits or those over the age of 70. For more information about these schemes please contact the following:

2) Warm Front grant

Warm Front is a grant to make homes warmer, healthier and more energy efficient. The Warm Front Grant provides a package of insulation and heating improvements up to the value of £2,700 (or £4,000 if oil central heating is required). The grant, which is a Government-funded initiative is available to home owners and private renting tenants who are in receipt of certain benefits. Please visit the Warm Front website for more information and to apply.

If you are not in receipt of a benefit

The Energy Incentive Grant is available from the Council to further reduce the cost of insulating your home. The maximum grant of £100 is designed to encourage local residents to insulate their homes and is offered in conjunction with the two insulation discount scheme supported by the Council, details can be found above. Please contact the Vale Energy Team to apply - see the contact details on the right. Applications must be received prior to the work being completed, grants can not be awarded retrospectively.
