Relocation Grant
Applicants should be aware that grant conditions are subject to change and the Council can only provide grant on the basis of current grant conditions. Grants are available subject to budget. The grants budget is prioritised to allow mandatory grants to be given preference over discretionary grants.
What is the Relocation Grant?
- This grant is for assisting homeowners (including park home owners) or private tenants to move to a more suitable property where works recommended by an Occupational Therapist are not cost effective due to excessive cost of the building works or is not reasonably practical having regard to an applicants property
- The grant would be calculated as 40 per cent of any mandatory Disabled Facilities Grant which would be awarded on the existing property to a maximum of £10,000.
Who is eligible?
- A Relocation Grant is available to homeowners (including park homeowners) and private tenants
- A means test will be employed to assess whether applicants will need to contribute towards the cost of the works
- Anyone claiming Income Support, income based Jobseekers Allowance or Pension Credit (Guaranteed Component) will not be asked to make a contribution towards the cost of the works
- Parents can make applications on behalf of children under the age of 16
- All owner-occupiers must provide proof of ownership of the property, and tenants must complete a Tenant’s Certificate and obtain permission from their Landlord before works begin
- The grant will only be offered if there are no alternative sources of funding available.
