Skatepark

The popular Abingdon Skatepark next to the White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre in Audlett Drive was opened in August 2007 after four years of fundraising and hard work by a group of Vale skaters together with Council officers and members.

The project which cost £122,000 to complete saw many local organisations join forces to help make the skatepark dream a reality. Financial backing for the project came in the form of funding from the Vale of White Horse District Council, and grants from Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd (Wren), the Vale Community Safety Partnership, Abingdon Joint Environmental Trust, Abingdon Town Council and the Department for Education and Skills through Oxfordshire County Council’s Youth Opportunity Fund.

The site is considered by many to be the best of its kind in the county and attracts young people from far and wide to try out their skateboarding and BMX skills.
