How to check the status of an application or find out if a decision has been made

If you know the planning application reference number you can check the status of the application online using the Council’s Public Access system. Please note Public Access has been designed by the software provider for best use with Microsoft Internet Explorer - it may not be possible to access the system with other internet browsers.

To find out about Public Access and to start using the system please see Using Public Access.

Once you are in this system you need to choose the Application Search facility and then type in the application reference number in the box entitled Alternative Reference Number. That should bring up the application details, and the current status of the application.

Alternatively you can contact Development Control and they can check the status of an application for you. See How to contact Development Control for contact details.

If you do not know the application reference number you can use a more general search on the Public Access System to view recent decisions. To do this you need to choose the Application Weekly List option from the menu on the left. You can then choose the time period over which to search for applications which have been decided.

If you are an applicant, and a decision has been made on your application, you will be informed of that decision within three working days of it being made. Anyone who has made a comment on the application will also be notified of the decision in writing.
