House-to-house and street collection licences

House-to-house collections

A permit is required to undertake a house-to-house collection. This requirement is made in the House to House Collections Act 1939 as amended.  

Applications for such a permit must be submitted at least 28 days in advance of the collection date. 

Please complete the attached form on the right and return it to the Licensing Unit - see the contact details on the right. No fee is payable. 

Street collections

All street collections need to be registered by the Council. This requirement is made in Section 5 of the Police, Factories etc (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1916 as amended.

Application for such a permit should be made at least 28 days in advance of the proposed date of collection. Restrictions are imposed on the number of collections that can take place in the same area on the same day.
