The Council has adopted a system of street trading control in some areas of its District. This system means that street trading is banned in a prohibited street, and can only take place in a consent street if the trader has obtained the necessary street trading consent from the Council.
The performance of street traders is routinely monitored during trading hours to ensure a consistency of acceptable standards and compliance with the conditions applied by the Council.
For more information about where street trading is and is not allowed please see the "Guidance on street trading", which can be downloaded from the right of the page.
You can apply for consent for street trading using the application form on the right of the page. Please send the completed form, together with the annual licence fee (contact the Licensing Unit for calculation of fees), to the Licensing Unit - see the contact details on the right.
Fees for street trading consents are reviewed annually.
Anyone considering applying for a street trading consent should also contact Environmental Health to check on the availability of sites.
