Local land charges

The Council's Land Charges Section responds to requests for information about charges and restrictions affecting property and details about planning, building regulations, roads, traffic schemes and environmental matters. 

We normally expect to complete a search within ten working days. However, if you have not received a response to a request for a search within three weeks, please telephone 01235 520202 and ask for our Local Land Charges staff.

With effect from 1 April 2009, the fees for Local land Charges Searches are as follows:

** The Vale's fees do not include any individual charges levied by your service provider

Local Land Charges– Personal Searches

Anyone can carry out a personal search of the Local Land Charges Register and obtain information to answer the CON29 questions by visiting our offices.

Appointments

Appointments are available between 10am and 1pm each day and may be made by phone between 9am and 4pm.  They are available for up to five searches per appointment, only one appointment may be made per day. Each appointment is for a maximum of one hour.

Details of the addresses of the properties should be emailed, together with a plan and an order form - which can be downloaded from the right of the page - two working days in advance, to allow us to prepare the necessary information, i.e. details for a search to be performed on a Wednesday should be emailed to us by 9am the previous Monday.  

Payment

Fees should be paid on arrival at the Council offices, payment may be by cash, cheque, debit or credit card. 

Fees

The statutory fee for a search of the Local Land Charges Register is £22.00.
