Flood action groups

Many flood affected areas in the Vale have active community-based flood groups.

These are groups of people who work together to reduce flood risks with the Vale of White Horse District Council, the Environment Agency, the Parish or Town Council and the County Council.

Many flood groups have been established across the Vale and have already completed work which has reduced the flooding risk in their community.

See the Environment Agency's Flood Action Maps for details of some of the actions identified by the Environment Agency, Oxfordshire County Council, the Vale of White Horse District Council and the community. In some cases action group volunteers do the work with funding support from the Councils and the Environment Agency.

There are flood action groups in:

  • Appleton
  • Charney Bassett
  • Denchworth
  • Grove
  • The Hanneys
  • Kennington
  • The Letcombes
  • Marcham
  • North Abingdon
  • South Hinksey
  • Wantage

Could you get a flood action group started in your community?

You will need the support of your Parish or Town Council and may receive funding support for your schemes from the Council. Email our Emergency Planning Officer using the contact details on the right for more information.
