Homophobia Awareness Liaison Team (HALT)

What is HALT?

HALT is a multi agency partnership which aims to challenge and eliminate all forms of homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in Oxfordshire. HALT can also offer support to victims of homophobic, biphobia or transphobic abuse.

HALT works to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in Oxfordshire.

Who makes up HALT?

  •  Representatives from the LGBT community in Oxfordshire
  •  The five district councils
  •  Oxfordshire County Council
  •  Thames Valley Police
  •  Terrence Higgins Trust
  •  Criminal Justice Board
  •  Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust

What does HALT do?

The Team has been running a campaign to encourage more people to report homophobic, biphobic and transphobic incidents (to find out more about how to report homophobic, biphobic or transphobic incidents please see Reporting homophobic incidents). They have produced reporting cards and posters which have been distributed directly to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community at outreach evenings and the Oxford Pride event. HALT has also helped to broker the provision of LGB awareness training for key teams in a number of local Councils (including the Vale of White Horse District Council).

For more information about HALT, download the leaflet from the right hand side of this page. Alternatively, visit the HALT website.
