You can find out what day your rubbish, recycling boxes and brown bin will be collected using our My Vale search facility.
Collection details for brown bins are also available on the Brown bin collection calendar, which can be downloaded from the related documents section on the right of this page.
Please be aware that collection days are usually altered over holiday periods – please see Holiday collection dates to check the revised collection dates.
Collections start at 7am and all rubbish, recycling or garden waste should be placed out by then.
We would ask you to put your rubbish out as close to this time as possible, and certainly no sooner than 24 hours beforehand. This is because rubbish that is left out in the streets for a long time can cause litter problems particularly if it is windy or if the rubbish bags are ripped open by animals. Rubbish can also attract pests, such as rats. If people regularly put their rubbish out too early, and it is causing these sorts of problems, we will write to them to ask them not to do this. If problems continue we could take further action, including issuing fixed penalty notices. For more information see our pages about environmental crimes What can people be fined for and how much are the fines?
Special collections can be made from your backdoor if you are elderly or disabled – please see Assisted waste collections for elderly and disabled people for more information and details about how to request this service.
