Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 Community Governance Review
In 2014/15 Vale of White Horse District Council carried out a Community Governance Review (CGR) - a review of parish council arrangements in the district under the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007.
The review was carried out in accordance with the guidance on community governance reviews issued by the Department of Communities and Local Government and the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) in April 2008 (“the guidance”).
Why did we carry out the review?
It is good practice for councils to undertake CGRs every 10-15 years. The LGBCE has also recently completed a review of district warding arrangements, which has resulted in widespread changes some of which cut across existing parish boundaries. For these reasons the council considered it timely to carry out a CGR so that any changes could be implemented prior to the May 2015 elections.
The Vale of White Horse District Council (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order 2015
Following a Community Governance Review, The Vale of White Horse District Council (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order 2015 was made on 17 February 2015. This Order came into force on 1 April 2015.
The electoral arrangements apply in respect of parish elections to be held on and after the ordinary day of election of councillors on Thursday 7 May 2015.
