Proposed Grove Station

The Vale of White Horse is working with Oxfordshire County Council on developing plans for a new station in Grove. The Vale and Oxfordshire County Council commissioned consultants SLC to review both the business case for the station and where it should be best located. The outcome of this work is included in a ‘Statement of Opinion Report’ available here:

The work included in the report indicates that there is a good outline business case for a new station at this location, which would attract a significant number of passengers. It also shows that there are two preferred locations for a new station, which have been reflected in the proposed safeguarding policies of the Vale Local Plan Part 2.

There is a need to look in more detail at how a future service could be provided, potentially linked to other new stations between Oxford and Bristol, and other new investment such as East-West Rail. Delivery of a new station is therefore likely to be several years away following further more detailed work.

The Vale will continue to work positively with the County Council, surrounding districts, Oxfordshire LEP, Network Rail, train operators and others to further develop the case for a new station at Grove.
