Bulky waste collections

The quickest and easiest way to book a bulky waste collections is to use the form below.  Please note that if your payment isn't processed, your slot won't be booked.  To book over the phone, please call the waste team on 01235 422406.

Please note - Biffa collect your bulky waste, not the council.  If anyone claims to be from the council and says they're collecting your waste, please refuse this and call us on 01235 422406 to let us know.

If you have bulky furniture or appliances that you no longer want, we will collect them from you and dispose of them for a small charge.

Examples of what we collect:

  • furniture (such as sofas, chairs, and tables)
  • televisions
  • washing machines
  • mattresses

Items we don't collect

We cannot collect DIY waste such as fixtures or fittings. Please note if you pay someone to dispose of this kind of waste you need to check they are a registered waste carrier and and make sure they give you a waste transfer note to state where the rubbish is being taken from and to. Cost

A bulky waste collection costs £34 for up to three items and £7 per additional item, up to a maximum of six items per collection. If you have more than six items you would need to book another collection day for any remaining items. N.B. Payments by credit card are subject to a 1.72% surcharge.

Fridges and freezers

We can also arrange for collection of fridges and freezers, although these should be cleaned and emptied of all food before collection.

Changes

Before you contact us to book your bulky waste collection, have a good think about whether you have any other big items to dispose of. Once we have processed your booking, we are unable to make any alterations or add any other items – even if you have only booked one or two items.

How to book your collection - bookings currently online only

You can pay by debit/credit card, over the phone or by cheque/postal order made payable to Vale of White Horse District Council. You need to write your address, and the job number we give you, on the back of the cheque which you can send to us at: The Waste Team (see Contacts section of this page for address).

No changes can be made to an order once it has been booked. We can cancel a booking and make a full refund as long as we are informed by 11am the working day before the collection was due.

Collection day

When you book, you will be given a number of collection days to choose from.  You must leave all items for collection outside, within the grounds of your property, for collection any time after 7am.

Give your furniture to a good home

Alternatively, before throwing good quality furniture away, please contact homeless charity Emmaus, which runs a furniture store in Oxford that collects reusable furniture, electrical appliances and other household items from anywhere in Oxfordshire. The items are then sold on to raise money for the charity.
