Manor Road Memorial Park, Wantage
Wantage Memorial Park is a popular recreational area situated in Manor Road, a five minute walk from Wantage town centre.
It occupies seven hectares of open spaces with views overlooking the town. The park has a large area for informal play, a well equipped play area and an interactive water feature which replaced the outdated paddling pool in 2009.
The new water feature was jointly funded by the district council and the Big Lottery fund.
The water feature will open from Saturday 26 May 2012. Opening hours will be 1pm – 5pm.
The decision to turn the water feature on, albeit with reduced hours from previous years, has been made following consultation with Thames Water.
In order to ensure it would not fall foul of ongoing restrictions, Vale of White Horse District Council, sought advice on how the continuing drought conditions, including the hosepipe ban, would affect the running of the popular facility.
The council has decided that the interactive water feature should be turned on during each afternoon, so that young children have an area to come to when it is hot, a move which it is hoped will reduce the likelihood of people using paddling pools in their own gardens.
The pitch and putt and putting facilities will not be opened in 2012 although the two tennis courts are still available for public use.
Summer tennis court use 2012
To allow members of the public to use the tennis courts when the facilities are closed a key can be purchased allowing access to the courts during daylight hours. The key will be valid for use from 1 April 2012 to 30 September 2012.

The cost quoted is for payment by cash or debit card. If payment is made by credit card a 1.72 per cent surcharge is levied on top of these prices.
No matter which day of the month you buy your key the same cost is applicable for the whole of the month.
Wantage Tennis Club use the tennis courts on a Saturday morning during term time therefore the courts are unavailable for public use.
