Supplementary Planning Documents

The Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) are intended to expand upon policy or provide further detail to policies in development plan documents. They can demonstrate through illustrations, text and practical examples how policies can be taken forward. Supplementary Planning Documents were previously called Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPGs) - see our page on Supplementary Planning Guidance for details about the Vale's adopted SPGs.

The first Supplementary Planning Document the council prepared is the Supplementary Planning Document Open Space, Sport and Recreation Future Provision. This identifies the key questions facing the council on the future provision of open space, sport and recreation facilities and provides a vision and delivery plan for tackling them. This SPD was adopted by Council on 16 July 2008. The document and associated documentation can be downloaded from the right of the page.
