Rubbish
Find your rubbish collection day here.
Your grey bin is for any rubbish that cannot be recycled, which should not be very much after you have removed your food waste and recycling, but may include the following:
- cling film
- polystyrene
- crisp packets
- sanitary products
- nappies (wrap in a bag if you want to avoid a smelly bin)
- cat litter
Please do not put the following in your grey bin
- bricks
- rubble
- soil
- large items i.e. furniture - homeless charity Emmaus runs a furniture store in Oxford that collects reusable furniture which is sold on to raise money for the charity. Call 01865 763698 or see the Emmaus website for more information. Alternatively, the council's contractors can remove bulky items such as dining room tables, settees and beds for a charge - see our Bulky waste collections page for more information.
- electrical items - these can be taken to any of the County waste recycling centres or the council offers a collection service for large electrical items as part of its Bulky waste collections
- garden waste - see our Garden waste pages for details of our brown bin service
- batteries - most places that sell batteries must also take back used ones or the council has a battery collection box in its reception at Abbey House where you can drop off old batteries
- hot ash (can go in the grey bin once cooled).
Your grey rubbish bin will be collected every other week - to find out which week this will be please see our Collections page.
Please note that we will not collect any rubbish put out in black sacks although you can use these inside your grey bin. The bin lid should be closed and we will not collect any waste left next to the bin.
